Portrush Heritage Group is pleased to announce details of their Heritage Evening in the Ramada Hotel Portrush at 7:30 on Wednesday 29th April. Popular local historian Alex Blair gets the evening underway with a talk about the language we speak. Alex's talk will give us a better understanding of the way we speak and help us appreciate the united heritage we have in the words we use each day. The second talk will be given by author Tim Hodkinson who originated from Moira and has, until recently been living in America. Tim will take us into the world of Knights, Gallowglasses and Pirates along the North Ulster coast in medieval times. Tim has published two books based on these shores and tells the reader of how things were in the 1300's. Tim will be available to sign copies of his books "The Lions of the Grail" and "The Waste Land". All are welcome. Members free, visitors £3.
One of our founder members Maurice McAleese has just published an outstanding book. The book is a story about Portrush and it's many varied associations with The 1951 Open Championship. As well as the happenings on and off the course during the Championship, Maurice touches on some of the not so well-known aspects of the game in this small corner of the world. Just thought you might like to have this information as it would be a good Christmas gift at £9:99.
